meet greeta

We are an interdisciplinary team of filmmakers, film lovers and scientists.

Our mission

We are part of a vital and ambitious market, which creates many series, features, daily soaps and news programs and, unfortunately, at the same time generates tons of CO2.
Making all these movies and TV-shows requires transportation and logistics, consumes energy in studios and on set, creates waste and much more. With greeta we want to take action, supplying producers and film crews with a tool that can make green filmmaking practical and easy. For the future of film and our planet.

Anne Braun

Anne is a filmmaker & producer with over 10 years of professional experience. She also gives seminars in the fields of film design and video creation.

Our Story

We all realized that our common interests go far beyond film. Each one of us has an appreciation for the environment and a deep understanding of human responsibility. It became clear to us that we want to change filmmaking for the better and contribute to the most important revolution of our time – the change of our society for a sustainable future.
greeta came to life while thinking at the crossroads between film and ecology. Our idea was awarded the main prize in the #UtopieParcours competition initiated by Medienanstalt Berlin Brandenburg (mabb) and Medieninnovationszentrum Babelsberg (MIZ). Now, we are ready to take greeta from an imagined scenario to reality, putting all our interdisciplinary strengths together – the know-how in filmmaking, the experience in measuring sustainability, the ability to analyze social processes and the playful way of designing systems for change.

Our Vision

With greeta we want to take a leap from knowledge to action; from an abstract CO2 calculation to a genuine difference in how films are made. We believe that CO2 quantification, as important as it is to analyse and compare the impact of our actions, is only a partial answer to sustainability.
Our approach is based on methods already developed and implemented in research on sustainability. Basic methods to evaluate the environmental impact of economic sectors include tools such as life-cycle assessment and carbon footprint. We adapt this knowledge to the creative sector and provide production companies, TV-stations and film commissions with reliable data about the sustainable approach to production.

Dr. Dennis Rätzel

Dennis is a physicist and a member of the „Scientists for Future“ initiative. He also worked as a film director with a focus on sustainability.
